The 1st Amendment: Allows people to speak freely, and petition their government verbally and peacefully.
The 2nd Amendment: Tells people to shoot the government in the face if they get out of hand, and overthrow them if they are not for the people.
In Layman's Terms:
1. Ask nicely first.
2. If that doesn't work, shoot them in the face.
Literally that is how WE THE PEOPLE are supposed to translate the first two Amendments of our U.S. Constitution. It doesn't get any clearer than that. The first two Amendments are intended to be the defense to protect WE THE PEOPLE, AND THE REST OF OUR CONSTITUTION. We have failed to follow Steps 1 & 2.
